ToggleThe Apple Tree Reading Comprehension
Read the passage carefully and answer the questions below:
Long ago there was a little boy who loved to play near an old apple tree. Every day he would climb its branches, rest under its shade, and enjoy the sweet apples that grew in summer. As years passed, the boy grew older and visited the tree less often. One day he came back looking sad. The tree said, “Take my apples and sell them for money.” The boy did and left happily.
Many years later he returned again. The tree said, “Cut my branches and build your house.” The man did and went away. When he became an old man, he returned once more. The tree whispered, “I have nothing left but my trunk.” You can sit and rest. The man smiled and sat down quietly.
The apple tree was happy once again because it could still give something.
Moral: True love means giving without expecting anything in return.
